From pregnancy to postpartum Winter handled each step with excellence! Each session was focused on our wants and desires as a family and preparing us for the birth we desired. To have a doula as knowledgeable, passionate and caring as winter is truly life changing. Due to her nursing background she’s extremely knowledgeable of the medical terms, procedures and outcomes which really helped us make informed decisions during our birth . Winter loves what she does! You passionate for families and their birth experience oozes from her very being. She truly does care about your family like it’s her own. My family felt so safe once she arrived to my birth. She advised me, prayed for me and support me with each decision. She showed great empathy and compassion when my birth plan didn’t go as we hoped. The postpartum session was a Blessing , she cooked a yummy meal for my family, cared for my new born and did a chore for me. I truly couldn’t imagine my pregnancy, birth experience, and postpartum without her. She’s forever apart of our family!Kayla T.
As a first time mom I was very aware of the growing mortality rate among expecting black mothers so I made it a priority to find a midwife and doula. I did a quick Google search for black midwives in Pittsburgh and Winter Clay’s information came up as a RN with the midwife center who also served as a doula. I immediately reached out to her and secured her as my doula for my pregnancy. Winter made sure from day 1 I was informed and most importantly comfortable. The goal was a natural water birth however my son was breeched ( Winter and I tried everything to get him to turn) I went in to the hospital to have a external cephalic version and was told it was best for me to get an epidural and I was completely against this and Winter made sure I knew every single option available to me. The doctors tried to make me feel rushed and Winter stayed calm and told me they were on my time! I truly believe had she not been there I would have been talked into doing something I truly didn’t want. During the procedure my water broke and I was told the baby had to come out, my fiancé and mother were working so it was just Winter and I. This was naturally one of the most important days of my life and I felt so loved and supported during my delivery knowing she was there and wouldn’t leave my side until my mom arrived. As a black woman I will advocate for our health so I recommend every expecting mother to get a doula. You wouldn’t go to court without a lawyer so why go into that delivery room alone? Thank you Winter for being my voice when I needed it.Tajae F
We highly recommend Winter! She is not only professional but VERY kind, supportive, caring, knowledgeable, experienced and is enthusiastic and eager to serve. She is with you every step of your journey and follows up postpartum as well. She has kept the lines of communication open and offers herself when called upon. My experience was a difficult time as well as exciting and she was VERY patient and compassionate. She shares the same beliefs and respected my limitations as well as challenged me to push when I doubted myself. Because of this, myself as well as my family have established a bond with her! Winter went above and beyond and definitely helped to make my labor and delivery a beautiful experience and helped guide my care working closely with me and my health care team. She is a mother and has experience as an RN with a background in labor and delivery, which is always a plus! Another great thing is that she makes her service affordable. If you choose to work with her, you will have a great support person in your corner with a heart of a servant. I will NEVER forget when she prayed with me before a procedure to quiet my spirit and it ended up that I didn't need to go through with it after all! For me, that was a major highlight. We are so grateful to have met her and had the opportunity to work with her during one of the most vulnerable times. She was and is such a blessing and we are so thankful to God for sending her!!Maygon M
Winter is truly a God send and hands down the best doula in the land! I would not have had a successful VBAC without her expertise! She offers such generous & thorough information and education and truly operates in Love! My family is forever grateful for her and anyone who gets to experience her services, consider yourself blessed! There is no doula that compares!Aleta H.
